TechEd 2012 – Were you there?

Last updated: 21 March 2014

Microsoft may not be renowned for throwing wild parties, but when you gather over 7,500 people in Amsterdam for a week, you’re bound to come back with some stories. I had the pleasure of attending Microsoft’s TechEd conference last month, an event dedicated to conferences, workshops and hands-on sessions with IT professionals and developers. Nestled in amongst the Partner Expo and ‘community’ spaces which gathered about 100 unique Microsoft Partners, was Gemalto.

Gemalto hosted a vibrant demonstration booth and held a unique position as the only strong-authentication partner for smart cards and OTP token solutions at the show. We presented our hardware security portfolio, as well as our strong-authentication platformproviding OTP login over Windows 7 and 8 Direct Access. It was pleasing to note that Gemalto had actually been quoted publically in several conferences by Microsoft speakers, which helped send plenty of delegates to our stand.

There was a strong focus on Microsoft’s ‘System Center 2012’ during this year’s conference (‘System Center’ is a comprehensive management platform that enables easy and efficient management of IT environments, including server infrastructure and client devices). Gemalto is particularly interested in this platform – ‘Forefront Identity Manager’ is the Microsoft solution for Identity Management that enables seamless smart card integrationfor every Microsoft FIM customer.

What’s great about TechEd is that it’s an exciting show for every business there, and it generates a great number of extensive exchanges with highly qualified IT professionals coming from all over EMEA.
