A Champion for Security

Last updated: 19 March 2014

In 2013, President Barack Obama once again issued a presidential proclamation declaring October as National Cyber Security Awareness Month. Celebrating the 10th anniversary of National Cyber Security Month, this initiative provides resources for keeping your business secure: assessing your risks, implementing a cyber security plan, protecting your customers and customer data, training your employees and monitoring threats.

Cyber security is one of the hottest fields in technology today and the trend will continue for the foreseeable future. According to CNN Money, cyber security is among the top ten fastest growing careers in America.

After all, each of us works, learns and plays online and our lives have gone digital – from financial transactions, transportation systems, healthcare records, emergency response systems to personal communications. National Cyber Security Awareness Month was created to get more people involved in making the Internet safer and more secure for everyone – spanning across consumers, small and medium-size businesses, corporations, educational institutions and young people across the nation.

Gemalto is proud to be a champion for National Cyber Security Awareness Month, demonstrating our commitment to cyber security. There are many ways you and your business can get involved.
1. Use social media: Post online safety tips and reminders about National Cyber Security Awareness Month on your social networks. Use the hashtag #ncsam on Twitter and Facebook. Social media messages have already been created for you!
2. Educate: Hold a brown bag lunch for employees to discuss your company’s IT security and acceptable use policies. See these talking points for your employees.
3. Plan: Download the Federal Communications Commission’s Small Biz Cyber Planner 2.0 to help you chart a path to a more cyber-secure business.

Working together, we can protect and further build our digital lives.
Happy Cyber Security Awareness Month!
