The Internet of Things (IoT) has evolved from a futuristic vision to a bona fide technology phenomenon. Smart thermostats are heating our homes, wearable gadgets are telling our smartphones how fit we are, and soon we’ll all be reading our emails on our watches. Even plants have been getting in on the action! In fact, one of our biggest challenges in coming up with scenarios for the Fact or Fiction quiz was coming up with impossible ideas that hadn’t been done!
We live in an increasingly smart world, where the possibilities presented by connected devices are limitless. And we’re really excited about where the developer community will take the IoT next.
With that in mind, we’re launching a contest today – the #IoT Maker challenge – to unearth the craziest, most ambitious or most useful new IoT ideas. Whether addressing a business or personal problem, and whether it’s a one sentence concept or a fully-fledged vision, we want to hear what you think.
Share your ideas with us and you could win a brand new iPhone 6 or a Gemalto Cinterion Concept Board. And what’s more, we’re planning to take the two best ideas and build them for real for the world to see at Mobile World Congress in 2015.
There are just a few very simple steps to enter:
- Come up with your own great idea for the next application of IoT or M2M technology. Whether you have a one sentence concept or a more detailed vision of the next great machine to machine implementation, we want to hear about it. If you have more than one idea, don’t worry – you can enter as many times as you like.
- Tell us about it! Submit your idea to us through whatever channel you prefer. Tweet it (including @gemalto and #IoTMaker), email it (to IoTMaker@gemalto.com), leave a comment on this blog post – it’s totally up to you.
- Do it before November 30th The contest entry deadline has been extended to 30th November, so get your entries in before then!
