This is the last in our M2M Fact or Fiction blog series. We hope you enjoyed taking the quiz and reading more about each of the applications we explored – whether real or imaginary (for the time being, at least).

Since the quiz launched, the world of M2M has continued to evolve and more concepts that wouldn’t be out of place in science fiction are becoming real. In the last week alone, we’ve heard about the Internet of Boats at the JavaOne conference, Telefonica announced Car Connection – a piece of hardware that enables any car to send diagnostic and driving data to the owner’s smartphone, and we were made aware of a wearable device called Pavlok that delivers small electric shocks to the user to help them change unwanted habits – eerily close to our fictional idea of electroshock running shoes.
As more fictional M2M technology becomes fact at a blistering pace, we’ve launched a competition to challenge the community to come up with their own innovative ideas. It’s called the #IoTMaker Challenge, and if you enter you might win an iPhone 6, or see your idea built for real and shown off to the world at Mobile World Congress 2015. So, if you’ve got a great idea for the next big thing in the Internet of Things, make sure you read more and enter! Entries will close on November 30th, so you have a few weeks to go. We’ll be blogging more about IoT, M2M and some of our favorite entries during that time, so watch this space.
