Today, 21st April 2016, Queen Elizabeth II is celebrating her 90th birthday. A lot can change in 90 years, so in honor of Her Majesty’s name day, we decided to look back at how British currency and payment technologies have changed over the last nine centuries.

From coins and cheques to credit cards, internet banking and contactless payments, the Queen has seen considerable changes in how money and payments work, look and are protected in her lifetime.
