The Internet of Things is set to turn a host of ordinary objects into connected devices – including many everyday items like the recycling bin.
M2M technology can be used to remotely monitor recycling containers to improve logistics. In essence, data sent from a trash can to a fleet of refuse collectors can indicate exactly how much waste is due for collection, and even how frequently it needs emptying. This information can help to re-route entire fleets of trucks, save money on fuel, and a lot of time and resource in the collection chain.
Increasing efficiency is a key motivator for the deployment of M2M solutions. Gemalto offers all the key ingredients to rapidly develop an Internet of Things project, allowing customers to easily transform ideas into tangible results.
Check out the Vine video of our M2M recycling demo below, or if you’re at #MWC14, come and experience it yourself at the Gemalto hub in Hall 5, stand 5A80.
