IoT idea: Helmets update bikers in real time

Last updated: 14 November 2019

As more submissions for the IoT Maker challenge flood in from across the globe, we’ve sketched out an idea from Vinicius Senger (@vsenger) in Brazil who suggested a smart helmet for bikers with EHS6, GPS, accelerometer and a camera.

This innovation would allow motorbike riders to get live feedback on how they’re riding based on data collected during the journey. A heads-up display could inform the rider of any traffic jams ahead or provide directions based on GPS mapping. Inventions always look better in blueprint don’t they?

Got an idea? There are a few very simple steps to enter:

  1. Come up with your own great idea for the next application of IoT or M2M technology. Whether you have a one sentence concept or a more detailed vision of the next great machine to machine implementation, we want to hear about it. If you have more than one idea, don’t worry – you can enter as many times as you like.
  2. Tell us about it! Submit your idea to us through whatever channel you prefer. Tweet it (including @gemalto and #IoTMaker), email it (to IoTMaker@gemalto.com), leave a comment on this blog post – it’s totally up to you.
  3. Do it before November 30th The contest entry deadline has been extended to 30th November, so get your entries in before then.

Terms and Conditions for the competition can be read here.  Share your ideas with us and you could win a brand new iPhone 6 or a Gemalto Cinterion Concept Board.

Good luck!

Update: The entry window for the IoT Maker challenge has now closed, stay tuned to the blog for more information.
