Cloud security adopted by SFR

Last updated: 06 February 2015

Last year a survey showed that security is still the number #1 barrier to cloud adoption. We’re pleased to share the news that, this year, more firms are moving to the cloud. This is according to a report by the Ponemon Institute, released to coincide with Infosecurity in London.

However, security fears still flourish about moving sensitive or confidential data into public cloud services. The Financial Times recently published a series of questions that cloud storage providers need to be able to answer to ensure cloud security and data sovereignty, a concept which states that information which is stored in digital form is subject to the laws of the country in which the storage is located, means that there is no one size fits all solution either.

This is why it’s more important than ever to highlight when organizations do take measures to protect cloud security and one example is French cloud service provider SFR Business Team.

Having recognized that trust is key to the successful deployment of cloud-based services, SFR is focusing on building a bond of trust with its enterprise and government customers, working closely with us to offer secure one-time password cloud services. (A one-time password (OTP) is an automatically generated number or character string that authenticates the user for only one single transaction or session.)

Aimed at business customers, the service transforms existing smartphone fleets into mobile authentication devices, ensuring convenience combined with secure levels of data protection, and also enables secure remote access to corporate Virtual Private Networks. SFR can give its customers the peace of mind that cloud security is in place, while giving them the flexibility of being able to use a smartphone securely and conveniently.

So, is cloud computing secure? The more providers can put in place convenient yet secure measures to protect content and identities, the better-placed we’ll be to take advantage of cloud computing opportunities in future. Who knows what research we’ll be citing this time next year?
