Secure the Breach with Gemalto at Infosecurity Europe 2018!

Last updated: 30 May 2018

Infosecurity 2008During the first full week of June, security professionals from all over the world will gather at Olympia in London for Infosecurity Europe 2018. There, they’ll be able to check out some of the most relevant security products displayed by 400 exhibitors. They’ll also be able to network with some 20,000 other practitioners who are expected to attend this year.

Together, these information security experts will have a lot to discuss. No doubt they’ll discuss the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), a standard which by the time of the conference will have been in force for less than two weeks. They’re also likely to debate some of the biggest headlines from the past year, such as Equifax and Cambridge Analytica, and how these events reflect a changing security landscape.

Overall, it appears that data breaches are becoming larger in scope. According to 2017: The Year of Internal Threats and Accidental Data Breaches, Gemalto’s Breach Level Index (BLI) system saw an 87.5 percent growth in the total number of records compromised by breaches over the course of the year. This total surpassed two billion records for the first time in BLI’s history. That’s in spite of the fact that the overall number of breaches detected by Gemalto decreased 11 percent from 1,981 in 2016 to 1,765 in 2017.

Given these findings, attendees will no doubt want to learn how they can “Secure the Breach” and thereby protect their organizations against data theft. To help security professionals bolster their employers’ defences, Gemalto will be teaming up with Exclusive Networks to build on the success of last year’s conference in tackling the first wave of GDPR-related compliance questions. We will do so by means of a slightly different quiz which aims to characterise each attendee’s level of GDPR-related preparedness by assigning to them one of six animal types, each reflecting a particular attitude to GDPR readiness.

Gemalto is confident its partnership with Exclusive Networks will lay the groundwork for future collaboration between the two companies’ tech portfolios. These offerings are already robust on their own considering the inclusion of Gemalto’s SafeNet Trusted Access within the new “Best Authentication Technology” category for the SC Awards Europe 2018. An alliance between Gemalto and Exclusive Networks is therefore guaranteed to produce best best-in-breed security solutions that offer a holistic approach to securing the breach for many organisations.
