There’s a rather cool venue at this year’s Mobile World Congress – it’s the house of the future. The GSMA has a ‘Connected House’ with a smart living room, bathroom, bedroom and many other aspects of connected living we can expect in the next few years and decades.
We have discussed M2M, NFC and LTE a fair amount on this blog over the course of the show, but here, you can see it all come together. There is even a life-sized augmented reality demo!
With estimates from the GSMA claiming there will be 24 billion connected devices by 2020, we think it’s really useful to see how these connections might play out in real life. Machine to Machine (M2M) technology, a component of the “Internet of Things”, is prominently on display here: from health monitoring to fleet tracking, energy management to web-based home automation, there are many different scenarios to explore. And, we’re delighted to be part of it in collaboration with the GSMA, T-Mobile and Vodafone, for Embedded SIM and Remote Provisioning Systems.
